Two Simple and Easy Halloween Activities

Two simple and easy activities to celebrate halloween.

We love everything about Halloween at our house! The boys talk about it all year. They plan what they’re going to dress up as the candy they’re going to get and sing songs about Halloween. Jake found a cute Halloween song on YouTube Kids that we’ve been listening to nonstop. Since it’s such a beloved holiday in our house I wanted to be sure to do fun activities centered around Halloween! As always I needed to keep it simple because I don’t have a ton of time to prep things.

These two activities are fun for all ages, are easy to prep, and don’t require a lot of supplies!

Simple and easy taste safe slime with googley eyes. The perfect Halloween activity.

Easy Taste Safe Halloween Slime

We tried Chia Seed Slime by Mother Could and loved it! It’s really simple to make and it’s a fun texture. A few of the advantages is it’s taste safe and easy to get out of things. It isn’t sticky like regular slime! Can you tell we’ve had problems with slime before? To stick with the Halloween theme and make it harder to find the googley eyes I added black food coloring to it.

Supplies

  • ¼ Cup Chia Seeds
  • 1 ¾ Cup Water
  • Food Coloring
  • Googley eyes

Simple mix the Chia seeds, water, and food coloring together. Let it sit in the refrigerator overnight to thicken up. Then add the googley eyes to it!

The boys just found the eyes. I was planning on drawing monsters and having them count the eyes on them but I didn’t get around to drawing it.

Questions to Get Them Talking

  • If you were a monster what kind of monster would you be?
  • How many eyes would you want and why?
Fun and easy master making playdough activity.

Simple Halloween Monster Play Dough

For Blake’s class gift, we gave a monster making kit, you can read about it here . I set out the same supplies that were in that kit. Playdough, some pipe cleaners, and googley eyes. The boys all love playing with playdough so once I got them set up and started they did the rest! I love this activity because it’s open-ended. They’re able to create monsters and then they moved on to making houses for their monsters. It’s fun to do this activity with them and they love talking about their creations.

Supplies

  • Playdough
  • Pipe-cleaners
  • Pompoms
  • Googley eyes

Questions to Get Them Talking

  • If your monster had a superpower what would it be?
  • Where would your monster live?
  • What kinds of things does your monster like/dislike?

These two simple Halloween activities are an easy and fun way to start celebrating Halloween! Another fun way to get the kids excited about Halloween is festive breakfast. Here are more quick and easy Halloween idea!
